Area Overview

The Eixample district is located in the heart of the city, surrounded by the rest of the districts. It is the residential area with the highest population density in the city, it is the newest part of Barcelona, the result of Plan Sardà, a city reform project that arranged the streets in a grid of wide and perpendicular avenues. Formerly the neighborhood chosen by the Catalan bourgeoisie, it therefore has numerous stately buildings that reflect this wealth. It is very well connected by public transport.
